Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Charles.doc, including saved manuscripts, AI-generated readings, purchases, and requests to work with Charles Blackstone.

Eligibility and agreement
You must be at least 18 years old to use Charles.doc. By creating an account, saving a manuscript, purchasing or redeeming a reading, or submitting a request, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Your work remains yours
You retain ownership of your manuscript and other material you submit. You give Charles.doc a limited, nonexclusive permission to store, process, reproduce, and transmit that material only as needed to provide the features and services you request. You represent that you own the submitted material or have permission to use and submit it.
AI readings
Charles.doc reports are generated by artificial intelligence using analytical lenses shaped by Charles Blackstone’s Art of Friction Method. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, inconsistent, or unsuitable for a particular manuscript. They are a starting point for editorial thought, not a promise of publication, representation, sales, critical reception, or professional success. An AI report is not a personal reading or endorsement by Charles unless expressly stated otherwise.
Purchases and complimentary access
AI readings are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. The price shown before checkout is based on the manuscript’s word count and selected lenses. Payment is processed by Stripe. Complimentary codes are promotional, may be limited by user, package, date, or number of uses, have no cash value, and do not create reusable or transferable credit unless expressly stated.
Human editorial services
A contact or engagement request does not by itself create an editor-client relationship or obligate either party to proceed. Any coaching, editing, book doctoring, ghostwriting, publishing, or related human service will be governed by the scope, fee, schedule, payment terms, and other conditions agreed separately in writing.
Acceptable use
Do not use Charles.doc to violate law or another person’s rights; upload material you are not authorized to use; probe, disrupt, reverse engineer, overload, or bypass the service; attempt to access another user’s work; or use automated means to abuse complimentary codes or purchasing limits. Access may be suspended when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or third parties.
Availability and responsibility
Reasonable care is taken to operate Charles.doc, but uninterrupted or error-free service is not guaranteed. Keep your own copy of every manuscript. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Charles.doc and Charles Blackstone are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the site or reliance on an AI report. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes, governing law, and contact
These Terms may be updated as the service changes; the effective date above identifies the current version. They are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a claim, please email charlesblackstone@gmail.com so the issue can be addressed directly.
